Shield shrimp

Shield shrimp seen in a temporary waterhole in the Australian outback. There must have been thousands of them, in a puddle the area of an olympic swimming pool but scarcely more than a couple of inches deep. Their eggs dessicate when the pool dries up, to hatch again in the next rains.
