Saguaro cactus in the Phoenix Mountains. This is in central Phoenix, and the largest mountain is called “Piestawa Peak” after the young woman killed in Iraq who was with “Jessica”, who survived and was rescued. The local name will always be the same as it had been - “Squaw Peak”. The tall cactus to the right is about 20′ tall - a real survivor. I doubt there are any blooms on the saguaros remaining, all burning up in the heat wave now.
